Congratulations, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on your victory as the President-elect under the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Congratulations, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on your victory as the President-elect under the All Progressives Congress (APC). The name is truly symbolic, “Asiwaju” - The front runner, who leads the way.
To Peter Obi, we commend you for your courage and honesty in revealing that the average Lagosian and a great number of Nigerians support a great and Igbo Presidency 100%. Your words remind us that as Nigerians, we must stand together as one, regardless of our ethnic backgrounds, to build a better future for our nation. And for the record, everyone knows the new Jagaban in Lagos, and "the major force in modern Nigerian politics," (In Igbo) - "Ndị dị na-atụ egwu nke Nigeria n'ụbọchị ọ bụla" or "Otu nke ogaranya nke ozi nke egwuregwu Nigeria." I hope I said it correctly.
To Rabiu Kwankwaso, we are inspired by the traction you pulled in Kano and your emphatic statement that "this is my town", (In Hausa) - "Wannan birni ba wanda nake ba." Your dedication and commitment to your people is a true testament to your leadership, and we are confident that you will continue to make a positive impact in our nation.
To Atiku Abubakar, we acknowledge the secret of the North and your love for your people, who love you in return. Your leadership and vision for our nation have not gone unnoticed, and we are grateful for your dedication to making Nigeria a better place for all.
As Nigerians, let us continue to work together to build a brighter future for our nation. Let us focus on what unites us and not what divides us, and let us strive to make Nigeria a better place for all.
Congratulations to all our leaders, and may we continue to work together for the greater good of our nation.
Now, for the sake of history, it's important that the narrative is intact, and this is it - “APC could have won the race either way, but winning with a non-transparent process shows fear of loss and lack of confidence in their ability to defeat other candidates”.
This is how best history can narrate what happened -
"THE DICTATOR'S GUIDE TO NIGERIAN POLITICS: HOW APC PANICKED AND DENIED VOTERS A FAIR ELECTION"
If you've watched the political satire movie "The Dictator," you would know that Admiral General Aladeen, the fictional tyrannical ruler of the Republic of Wadiya, is not exactly known for his love of democracy and fair elections. However, it seems that some of our real-life politicians have been taking notes from him.
The recent presidential election in Nigeria has been marred by controversy, as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC) refused to allow the use of the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), a technology that could have ensured a just and fair election.
It's no secret that the APC could have won the race either way, but winning with a non-transparent process shows fear of loss and lack of confidence in their ability to defeat other candidates. It's a shame that the ruling party, which came into power by unseating the former ruling party, the PDP, and showed the world a peaceful transition of power, has not been able to show the same fairness at the recent presidential election.
Perhaps they need to take a page out of Admiral General Aladeen's book, who said, "In democracy, it doesn't matter who gets the most votes. What matters is who counts the votes." Of course, this statement is a satirical commentary on the flaws of autocratic rule, but it seems that some of our politicians have taken it literally.
Politics is a game, but it's a dangerous game that involves promises, lies, deception, heartbreaks, and even tyrants. As former US President Barack Obama once said, "The game of politics is hardball, and the stakes are high." It takes a certain type of person to play this game, and not everyone is cut out for it.
But despite all of this, we cannot give up on politics. As former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright once said, "Democracy is not a spectator sport." We have to stay engaged and keep pushing for change, even when the odds seem insurmountable.
As we move forward, let us work towards building a nation where every Nigerian has equal opportunities to succeed, regardless of their background or social status. Let us embrace diversity and inclusivity, and let us strive towards a future where every Nigerian can proudly say, "I am Nigerian, and I am proud."
Together, we can build a better Nigeria, one that we can all be proud of. Let us put aside our differences and work towards a common goal, a Nigeria that works for everyone.
Thank you.
