According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE-WUR), Universities at the bottom of the table that are listed as having “Reporter” status provided data but did not meet our eligibility criteria to receive a rank. This year we gave institutions the option to opt-out of being displayed as reporters should they not meet the eligibility criteria.

The “reporter” status allows participating universities that complete the submission of data but are unable to meet the eligibility criteria for the global ranking table to be listed. THE-WUR team believes this new policy acknowledges the effort of participating universities that fall within this category, as active participants in the rankings process. They also think this gives the universities additional visibility to be seen in ways they weren’t previously, and also encouragement and opportunity to provide feedback guidance to the universities, on areas where they failed to meet the criteria, believing this will help them as they work towards admission into future rankings.

A total number of 526 universities had the “Reporter” status.

Counting universities per country’s participation, last year Nigeria was struggling with the 53rd position, as a result of only 7 universities on the list.

Japan 152

Russian Federation 103

India 100
