Hello All,
I am a tier-1 Google for Education partner, focused on helping institutions and organizations increase communication and collaboration with Google Workspace, for the regions - Southern Europe and Middle East Africa (SEEMEA).
I can provide guidance and support to academic scholars and, institutions that use Google tools and technologies for education i.e. G Suite, Google Apps, or Google Workspace, within the SEEMEA regions.

Discussion 1 - Understanding the Impact of Institutional Email on Research Publications
According to Ronald Rousseau, an institution email is an email that requires a confirmed identity, for example, an institutions staff member or students, such as @harvard.edu, a member of an academic or scientific institution, such as @cabi.org, a government agency such as @ars.usda.gov, or a company such as @microsoft.com.
On the other hand, a non-institution email is defined as an email that can be used by almost anyone, such as those with the suffix @gmail.com, @hotmail.com, or @yahoo.com.
The research examined the prevalence of commercial email addresses in scholarly articles, their distribution per country, and whether there is a difference in visibility between articles with institutional and commercial or non-institutional emails, as measured by citations.
The study concludes:
“When it comes to citations, articles with an institutional email address received more than double the number of citations, than those with a non-institutional email address.”
Ronald Rousseau is the former President of the International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics (ISSI). His article was published on The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)’s Blog referenced below.

Discussion 2 - Use of Google Scholar, Profiles, Indexing, and Citations
A. Some academic researchers that couldn’t create Scholar Profiles using their institutional email - first, this has nothing to do with you - the scientist or scholar, your university or institution webmasters or system administrators are responsible for this bug, they will have to ACTIVATE or ENABLE Scholar Profiles for everyone, in the Google Admin Console before anyone can create a profile on Google Scholar.
The reason for this is that Scholar Profiles is an additional service to Google Workspace for Education.
Steps to be completed by university or institution webmasters or system administrators:
Log in to the Google Admin Console https://admin.google.com
Apps > Additional Google Services > Settings for Scholar Profiles
Scholar Profiles > Status - ON/OFF for Everyone
B. There are other categories of academic researchers conflicted with a similar message below:
This account - firstname.lastname@university.edu - is managed by university.edu.
If you lose access to it, you will also lose access to your Scholar profile.
To keep your profile forever, sign in to your personal Gmail account.
The recommendation here is that Google algorithms are way smarter than we can comprehend, and they can figure things out independently, but first, users have to build trust by verifying their respective institutional email and activating their Scholar Profiles, as appropriate.
